Watch Red Star Compete on Rachel Ray's Snack Stadium Smackdown

James Debella from Red Star Brooklyn on Rachel Ray

Watch as Rachel Ray challenges New York's best sports bars, Red Star and Smithfield Tavern, to a snack stadium smackdown challenge. JD, co-owner of Red Star uses sliders, guacamole, chiken wings, and nachos to build his incredible snack stadium. Will Paul Garey, Executive Chef from Smithfield Tavern build a snack stadium that is "remembered for the ages" or will JD lay down the snack stadium smackdown all time!?

Rachel's judges, the Brooklyn Pitbulls, have a hard choice to make. Watch Part 1 | Watch Part 2

New York Magazine's Best Sports Bar in NYC

The pride of Greenpoint has above-average food, fourteen craft beers on tap (one made exclusively for the bar by Brooklyn Brewery), a knowledgeable crowd, and a smart layout.

Solid fundamentals—great beer selection, TVs where you want them, awesomely plump chicken wings, hip crowd— will win every time.

Red Star wins out based on the strength of its bar list (Red Star Dark Lager all the way) and its overall panache. A true sports-bar lover’s sports bar.

TimeOut NY Sports Bars: Where to watch hockey

"In a land of desolate, industrial hipsterdom, this 6,000-square-foot sports bar sticks out like a popped collar in a sea of flannel. Its main draws are its spaciousness and affordability; nightly food specials include $1 tacos on Tuesdays and 50-cent wings on Wednesdays. If your friends aren’t sports fanatics, they can enjoy comedy and karaoke twice a month while you watch a game.

Among the 14 draft brews, you’ll find the bar’s own ambers and light lagers, plus local favorites such as Sixpoint Sweet Action and Brooklyn IPA. Whomever you’re rooting for, you’ll likely find an ally in the crowd here: While the owner and most of the staff are Rangers fans, supporters of the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders also come to cheer on their teams."

CBS: One of The Best Places in NYC to Watch Football

"A welcome change-up from Greenpoint’s eponymous dive bar scene, Red Star claims the big three of large-scale sports bars.

It’s big, clean, and loaded with flat-screens, while pressed-tin walls, a notoriously friendly staff, and a café-esque second floor that frequently hosts live-band and comedy shows inject local character into all that plasma.

Solid pub grub is also a bonus. Notable offerings include hefty boneless chicken wings and the minorly-famous cowboy burger, a $13 behemoth draped in barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese and “frizzled” onions."
